Richard J. Engler

December 3, 1929 - September 8, 2011

Richard John Engler, 81, of Janesville passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Rock Haven surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born in Janesville on December 3, 1929, the son of Carl and Frances (Anderson) Engler. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1947 and attended Milton College. He married Betty Louise Kennedy on August 20, 1949 in Carbondale, IL. Prior to retiring, he was employed as a purchasing agent by I.K.I. Manufacturing in Edgerton. Richard was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling and spending time at the family cabin up north where he especially loved the time he spent out doors.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, 3 sons, David (Vicki), Phillip, Jeffrey, 5 grandchildren, Patrick, Nathan, Elizabeth (Bryan) Crowley, Alicia, Erin and 1 great-grandson, Damien. His parents preceded him in death.

Visitation will be Monday, September 12, 2011 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home with Rev. Maribel Celiz officiating. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to HospiceCare, Inc. or the Diabetes Foundation.
